guidelines.

imagery + design.

the first thing to take note of when working on content for social media is to take into account is all of the guidelines listed in the imagery + photography tab. this is the basis of everything happening for all posts on social media.

standards.

our main focus is social media, is the current generation. so the standards that we want to follow are the ones for posting on instagram.

images on instagram should always be posted as carousels from 3-10 images a piece.
all images should either be in portrait orientation or squares.
for portrait images the resolution should be 1080x1350.
for square images the resolution should be 1080x1080.

all video should be made for instagram reels.
so that means that they should be portrait.
the resolution for videos should be 1080x1920.

all day of content whether talking about an event happening that evening or the next day.
or a post that doesn’t need a lifetime existence should be done as a story post.
for all story posts both video + images should be made in portrait.
the resolution for stories should be 1080x1920.

the reasons for sticking to reels and carousels is because these are post types that are being naturally pushed by the algorithms on instagram. following these standards will help in getting our message into the hands of the people who need to see it and hear it.

design.

the heart of our presence on social media is being authentically who we are and who we want to be. the goal is a curated messiness. a presence that is harmonious, but not homogenous. when you go from post to post or sight to sight you know it is us, but it doesn’t all look the same.

some general standards are to keep the amount of text on the images to a necessary minimum. any long paragraphs should be done in the captions of the posts. when there is too much text on an image it feels and looks cluttered. it also means that the text is probably too small to read easily.

we want to push creativity in our social media presence. there are many ways to do this.
adding textures over images to breathe new life into them. layering images in unique ways on carousels. sometimes for posts letting the imagery cary the message. a mixture of professional imagery and everyday imagery. and the list goes on.
